吹哨人，whistleblower

最近，“吹哨人”这个词屡屡见诸报端。昨夜今晨，这个词的使用更是达到了爆发。

“吹哨人”究竟是什么意思？

whistleblower由whistle（哨子）、blow（吹）和-er（人）三个部分组成，直接翻过来就是“吹哨人”。

但是，它其实有更深的含义。

剑桥给出的解释是：

a person who tells someone in authority about something illegal that is happening, especially in a government department or a company

（尤指政府部门或公司里的）告发者，揭发者

牛津也给了类似的解释👇

a person who informs on a person or organization regarded as engaging in an unlawful or immoral activity

揭露个人或组织被视作违法或有违道德的行为的人

我第一次接触到这个词，是在大学的Professional Accountant这门课上。简言之，whistleblower指的是揭露公司不当行为的雇员。
